First post!

This is my first posting on my Oaxaca, Mexico blog! Currently, I am still at home in SoCal. I am leaving for Oaxaca on the 17th of September. Still a lot of things I need to do to get ready for my trip, but I'm very excited for it! I think that this experience will probably be an experience of a lifetime, especially after reading some blogs from previous Oaxaca alumni.

What I'm hoping to gain from all this is..

1) better my Spanish skills, which is a no-brainer since I'll be IN Mexico for 2.5 months..

2) be more culturally aware

3) develop...empathy? Is that how you would say it? Well, what I mean is to develop I guess more understanding of patients with the whole doctor-patient relationship aspect. Don't really know if it makes sense...but it makes sense in my head..kinda..haha

4) Get a better understanding of the Latino population and the struggles they face since there is such a huge population here in America, and especially in California.

5) Develop connections, new relationships, memories, and...

6) HAVE FUN!

So yeah. I'm definitely excited for this experience! I'll probably blog again before I leave, but for now, farewell!
